Chem 31 is hard. Analyses are terrible but very very exciting. Chem 17 is harder but the analyses there were too hard to bother grasping (add to that the very brooding atmosphere by the prof's aura). Chem 31 is my favorite chemistry course. Yee.
Our prof in Chem is Dr. VillaseƱor. At first I thought she's just like Solis - boring, no care for students, old and incomprehensible (tama ba yun?). Pero magaling siya! Last meeting was about stereoisomers and barely everyone could get the topic (well, I think so). She noticed it and she turned the class into an almost one-on-one teaching. She hops from armchair to armchair and checks if the student is doing right. Galing!! And it was only lately when we realized that she is the present director of the Institute of Chemistry! WAAW.
Ayun.. Some quotable quotes from her:
"C double bond C single bond O, break it down. C single bond C double bond C, break it down. Break it down."
Tas kami naman ni Val ang nasa background: Yow. Men. Yeah. Yeah. Yow.
Tungkol ata sa nucleophiles, reaction rate ekek yun. At syempre, di yan yung exact words.
"If its stable, it can wait."
Napa-Awwww ang row namin kasi ang cute. Ang mushy! HAHAHA. Tungkol naman yan sa selective reaction ng bromine with more stable carbon free radicals. Eeek.
Di niya yun sinasadya pero nagriring talaga kasi sa mga tainga namin kaya napapansin namin.
MBB (Molecular Biology and Biotechnology) Batch 05 are the ones normally taking Chem 31 this sem (I shoulld be taking Chem 28 instead but CRS snobbed at me) and as we all know, MBB people are the ones NORMALLY graduating suma or magna cum laude. It's normal. For them. It's quite intimidating to be sitting in a class where hardly anyone fails to do his or her homework or forgets to take down notes. I was the only one cramming for the prelab last week! And I thought I have the majority reaction towards such homeworks. They're really into the academic core. Hell serious people. But it's OK. I have their aura to influence me. Woooo.
I love Chem 31! Yey!
